U.S. Senate Republicans proposed a bill on Wednesday that would require state regulation of fracking on federal lands within their borders, Pittsburg reports.
Reports from Capitol Hill say the bill is unlikely to pass, and Republicans will use this to demonstrate that the President is giving the federal government too much control over fracking, therefore impeding its development.
The lead sponsor of the bill, Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), said, “States better understand their unique geologies and interests.”
